The best way, how to start your day is to have something warm, healthy, and nutritional for breakfast. Porridge is commonly eaten for breakfast and oats are great cereals. There are many instant porridges on the market, however, I always keep in mind, that “instant” means highly processed and that equals less nutrition. If you want to benefit from cereal, the best way is to have it in a form of grain or flake. That is the reason why we use instant porridge very rarely, basically only, if we have no option to cook our breakfast.
Oatmeal porridge is one of our usual kind of breakfast. Oats are great rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.
Cereals in a form of grains or flakes have the highest nutritional value, however, they also consist of antinutrients. Antinutrients are plant compounds that reduce the body's ability to absorb essential nutrients. They can be reduced by overnight soaking/fermentation and cooking.
For babies: I would prefer organic gluten-free oats, vanilla bean after the 3rd month of introducing solids, soaking overnight until the age of 8 months in water only. If yoghurt has already been introduced, can be added to the oat for soaking overnight.
For toddlers: Optional to flavor on the plate (NOT while cooking) with a teaspoon of almond butter and fruits.
